Thank you for generously supporting Santa Fe Community College Foundation and helping hundreds of students over the past decade. When I became the executive director twelve years ago, my mission was to grow the endowment, engage donors in the college’s initiatives, and help as many students as possible. I’m proud to say that with your help we have leveraged over $22 million while growing the endowment from $4 million to a high of $12 million.

Our growth is a testament to our team, committed faculty and staff, and your continued support. We have helped countless students pursue their education because of your generosity. It’s meant the world to me to have worked with so many passionate people that care about making education more easily accessible for SFCC students.

My work at the foundation has been rewarding and satisfying but it is time for me to start a new chapter in my life. I am retiring on November 1, 2022 and will pass the baton to Kelly Marquez (kelly.marquez@sfcc.edu) who will become the new Executive Director. I have had the pleasure of working with Kelly for eleven years, and I am proud of the infrastructure we have built together. Kelly will be the first Hispanic woman to lead the Foundation. She is a highly skilled and talented executive, and I am excited to see the Foundation’s growth under her leadership.

We are entering an exciting time for higher education in New Mexico. The Opportunity Scholarship will open the doors for students to receive free tuition and fees. You may wonder where the Foundation fits with this new initiative and era for college in New Mexico and how you can continue to help. Our work is needed now more than ever!

SFCC has some of the lowest tuition in the country, however, housing, textbooks, food, childcare, transportation, etc., are all expenses that stack up for our students. Thanks to your support we can help students with flexible funding for living expenses that students struggle with the most.

I look forward to retirement, but it won’t be easy to say goodbye to the Foundation, however with Kelly’s leadership, the Foundation will thrive. Please continue to help our students, so they can pursue their education without the financial burden to stop them.

Ever grateful for your philanthropy,
